Dr. Mathews John had always nursed the ambition to be a surgeon right from his school days and his drive and determination gained him a coveted admission to BLDEAs Medical College, Bijapur. His dreams were realized when he graduated and went on to continue his studies wherein he had always wanted to specialize on surgical procedures that involved minimally invasive methodologies, since he as a house surgeon during his graduation had observed the normal human fear of invasive surgical procedures, application of General Anesthesia and recovery duration as well as the cosmetic damage.
To lay a foundation on his predetermined future plans he embarked on a journey that gave him his Masters from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Studies besides being awarded the elite honour of Diploma and Fellowship in Laparoscopy from The University of Wales and TGO University. All these laurels never deterred him from pursuing of his dreams, and he returned to India refusing lucrative offers to work as a General Surgeon in various hospitals in Bangalore, Mangalore and Kerala with the mission of gaining maximum experiences to hone up his surgical skills, over looking the monetary gains.
He by then had earned fame as a much preferred surgeon but his unselfish nature prompted him to join Kasturba Medical College as an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery, so as to impart his three years of practical experiences as a Surgeon to his students. Being an individual with a never die attitude he perfected himself to the highest levels of excellence. He travelled extensively along the length and breadth of the country in search of his dream which was to alleviate post operative pain, elimination of large incisions and prolonged hospitalization.
His main aim was to convey to all in the Surgical Profession to get into Minimally Invasive Surgical procedures though it was relatively new to the world of Medicine and practiced in isolated cases. Dr. Mathews had the vision to understand the potential and the acceptance of the procedures by the masses, whose intentions were to go in for surgical procedures which were achieved by tiny non noticeable incisions, far lesser pain, minimum hospitalization as well as expenses. Having mastered the art, he was invited by Lifeline Hospital, Adoor which is a landmark hospital with a Global reckoning, to establish an Exclusive Department of General Surgery and Minimal Access which has now started turning out to be an Institute of Laparoscopy wherein the very best of Surgical Standards can be imparted to his patients as well as churn out the cream of Laparoscopic Specialists.
